          Robert Francis "Bobcat" Goldthwait was born on May 26, 1962, in Syracuse, New York.

          His mother, Kathleen, worked at a local department store, and his father, Tom, was a steel mill worker. Goldthwait's interest in comedy began at an early age, and he began performing professionally at the age of 15. He attended Bishop Grimes High School with future voice actor Tom Kenny (voice of SpongeBob SquarePants).

          Together with Kenny and future political satirist Barry Crimmins, Goldthwait formed a comedy trio called "The Uncalled For Comedians."
